Caring & Collaborative Mental Health Support

Hello! And welcome to my practice! I am looking forward to working with you on this journey.

Like the lotus flower that is born out of mud, we must honor the darkest parts of ourselves and the most painful of our life’s experiences, because they are what allow us to birth our most beautiful self.                                                                                                        – Debbie Ford

I utilize many different methods in my counseling approach and rely heavily on the belief that relational connections can facilitate change. I believe the counseling process is completely collaborative and that you are the expert of your own experiences. We will make guesses and hypotheses together about how your experiences, current and historical, have informed your relationship with yourself and work to form a cohesive narrative. I pull heavily from my knowledge of attachment development and how that impacts us throughout our lifespan. I am holistically minded and love alternative methods of healing, such as yoga, acupuncture, meditation, using nature and any kind of body work. I aim get to know my clients based on their needs and strengths and always incorporate building self-compassion. My goal is to create an environment of non-judgement in which clients can experience vulnerability, sharing and healing.

I mostly work with adults but will consider working with teens as young at 15 years of age. I also work with couples and parents needing support. My favorite type of work is to engage in long-term counseling with my clients in which they can begin to process and heal from childhood relational injuries that either, consciously or unconsciously, impact their adult life. I have experience working with but not limited to, mothers experiencing loss, grief of any kind, depression, anxiety, divorce, relational struggles of any kind, trauma recovery, parenting, eating disorders, body image, sexual and gender identity, sexual expression and career issues.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Marysville University in Organizational Leadership and Psychology in 2008.  I earned my Master’s Degree from University of Missouri – St. Louis in Community Counseling in 2011, and continued to earn my Ph.D. in Education with an Emphasis in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2015. I wrote my dissertation on sexual orientation microaggressions and their impact on mental health. I have been fully licensed by the state of Washington since 2017. I comply with WA state continuing education requirements and engage in ongoing learning opportunities that facilitate my skill growth as a therapist.

The majority of my clinical experience has been serving university students and working in private practice. I worked as a mental health therapist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Eastern Washington University. Following that, I worked for a private practice located in Spokane and now own my own private practice providing therapy to the community.

I look forward to hearing your story and being a witness to how you make sense of your journey.
